Before entering the UK: seven questions to answer
Seven commercial questions that should be answered before a business commits to UK expansion.

Attractiveness is not enough
The UK can be an attractive market without being the right immediate move for a specific business. The decision needs to consider fit, timing, route, evidence and the resources required to learn locally.
The seven questions
Each answer should be based on UK-specific evidence rather than performance in the home market.
- Which UK customer has the strongest reason to buy?
- How is that need currently solved?
- What local alternatives will buyers compare?
- Which route to market fits buying behaviour and economics?
- What must change in the offer, proof or service model?
- Which legal, tax, data, employment or regulatory specialists are required?
- What evidence would justify the next stage of investment?
Use stages, not one irreversible launch
A strong entry plan creates decision gates. Early research, customer conversations, partner tests or a focused commercial pilot can reduce uncertainty before fixed cost grows.
The aim is not to remove all risk. It is to make the next commitment proportionate to the evidence available.
